Project RISHI

Building school infrastructure in rural India

Project RISHI is a student-run nonprofit that partners with one village at a time on sustainable development. Berkeley's chapter works with Bharog Baneri, a village in Himachal Pradesh, India.

As Education Lead I ran the education side of the partnership. We launched the village's first college career panel, connecting students there with people who had gone on to university and careers they could see themselves in.

We also raised the funds for the school itself: repairs to the building, computer lab upgrades, textbooks, and water filters, working with the school and the village council on what they needed most.
